County seeking applicants for assessors board

By DAVE HAMRICK
Staff Writer

If you've ever wanted to get involved in the tax assessment process, now's your chance.

Two members of the three-person Board of Tax Assessors in Fayette County are retiring, and thus far no one has come forward to take up the slack, said county manager Billy Beckett.

The board is responsible for reviewing the value assigned to property throughout the county for tax purposes, reassessing the value of all property in the county every three years.

Residents qualified in the areas of appraisal and assessment, or anyone willing to undergo the required training, can get information in Beckett's office at the County Administrative Complex. Phone 770-460-5730, extension 103.
