A
mother and three children were injured after a
one-car accident Sunday night west of
Fayetteville.
According
to Capt. Pete Nelms of the Fayette County
Department of Fire and Emergency Services, a
Honda Accord driven by a 35-year-old woman struck
a tree at 256 Sams Drive, near Sandy Creek Road,
shortly after 8 p.m.
The
woman was trapped in the vehicle after the
accident, and emergency personnel required about
40 minutes to remove her due to the damage the
tree caused to the car, Nelms said.
The
driver, Sherri Perry of Tyrone, was flown by
helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center and was
listed in good condition Monday, a hospital
spokesman said.
One
child was found outside the car when officers
arrived, according to a spokesman for the Fayette
County Sheriff's Department, but it is not known
whether he was thrown from the vehicle. He was
flown by helicopter to Egleston, Nelms said.
The
two other children were transported by county
personnel to Southern Regional Medical Center in
Clayton County.
