Real Estate Scene...

Polly Garlington, who retired after 22 years as a school teacher in Coweta County, is now a full-time sales associate with the Newnan/Coweta County office of Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty.

Garlington, who originally was licensed as a real estate salesperson in 1978, formerly worked as a part-time agent, and she got back into real estate two years ago.

She feels that her years as a teacher, particularly the last 12 years when she was diversified cooperative training coordinator at Newnan High School and East Coweta High School, will be of great value in helping her meet her clients' needs.

“Because of the nature of the DCT program, I had extensive experience meeting with the public in the education, business and industrial fields,” she said.

Garlington also feels that her time as a teacher gave her “valuable experience in listening to and understanding the needs of the individual in business, financial and personal situations.” A Sharpsburg resident, Garlington has four children: Chris, Woody, Robert and Mitchie; and one grandchild, Kelly.

She is a member of the Newnan/Coweta Board of Realtors, the Georgia Association of Retired Teachers, and the National Education Association. She earned a business education degree from the University of South Carolina and master's and specialist degrees from Georgia State University.
