School counselors
discuss issues Faith Smith,
a counselor at Tyrone Elementary School and
president-elect of the Fayette School Counselors
Association, recently attended the 50th Georgia
School Counselors Association Conference in
Atlanta.
The
theme of the conference was Coming full
circle guiding into the new
millennium. Topics discussed included legal
and ethical concerns for counselors, the
importance of a positive attitude, prevention of
bullying and sexual harassment and violence
prevention in the schools.
The
conference provided an opportunity for counselors
to learn new techniques and improve their skills
in meeting the challenges of the diverse student
population in Georgia.
Smith
also is serving as public relations co-chairman
for the Georgia School Counselors Association.
