Planners delay action on Holly Grove project

Plans to realign and pave Holly Grove Church Road and extend Holly Grove Road to Ga. Highway 74 were tabled Monday night by the Peachtree City Planning Commission.

Homeowners in the The Preserve are concerned that the city's proposed changes will promote more traffic through their subdivision and affect their children's safety. Information will be solicited from Holly Grove AME Church and the owner of the land intersecting Holly Grove Church Road and Robinson Road before a decision is made.

In other business, the commission approved the site plan for the 15,000-sq. ft. Barrow retail center in a 3-2 vote. The retail center could include a dry cleaners, a pizza takeout and a coffee house.

The Dixie Wing of the Confederate Air Force also received approval of Phase 1 of their concept plan to build a hangar and office on 2.6 acres on Echo Court. Tom Barnes, Dixie Wing leader said the group plans to purchase the property, pending approval of the site plans.
