Junior League gears up for food drive

The Newnan Junior Service League is once again teaming up with the Newnan Food pantry to bring holiday cheer to the county's families in need.

This year's Can-a-Thon is set for Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Coweta County Courthouse in Newnan. Striving to top the goal of 120,000 cans, contributors began several weeks ago dropping off cans at the Coweta County School System and individual businesses.

One of the secrets to the success in past efforts is the great number of people who take a few minutes to drive through the square and drop off cans.

“We are hoping to get 120,000 cans, which is approximately 4,000 more than last year. This is the 16th year the Junior League has sponsored the Can-a-Thon and Christmas in Newnan,” said 1999 chairman Laura Bass.
