All Christian Science services focus on gratitude this Thanksgiving Day

Special church services focusing on gratitude will be held in all Christian Science churches on Thanksgiving Day. The lesson-sermon that day will include the following words from Psalms: “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”

A related section from the Christian Science Handbook, “Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures” by church founder Mary Baker Eddy also will be read. “Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more. Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech.”

The service at First Church of Christ, Fayetteville, begins at 11 a.m. and is open to the community. In addition to the reading of the Lesson-Sermon, the service includes the Thanksgiving Proclamation of the President of the United States, congregational Singing and time for Christian Scientists to share expressions of gratitude to God.

Members of the Fayetteville Christian Science Church invite the community to attend this service of thanksgiving. Care will be provided for children too young to attend. No collection will be taken.

First Church of Christ Scientist, Fayetteville, is located at 245 Ga. Hwy. 314.
