Newnan Hospital offers free screenings

Newnan Hospital recently opened the region's first Wound Treatment Center, and immediately kicked off its “first ever” free Foot Screening and Blood Glucose Testing. The testing is designed to identify those at risk for diabetes.

“We were very pleased with the turnout,” stated Kim Posten, Director of the Wound Treatment Program. “Complications from diabetes can be very serious. I can't stress enough the importance of prevention, early detection and early treatment. Our foot screening and blood glucose testing are designed with these preventative measures in mind.”

Approximately half of those tested needed further treatment on either their shoes or their feet in order to prevent problems. Others who attended had questions or concerns and wanted to put their minds at ease; everyone who came for the service took advantage of both the foot screening and the blood glucose testing. A spot check of circulation was also available as part of the screening.

Newnan Hospital will sponsor free screenings on a regular basis. Future screenings are scheduled for the first Friday of every month. The next screening will be on Dec. 3 from 9-11 a.m. Both the foot screening and the blood glucose testing will be held in the front lobby of Newnan Hospital. Blood glucose testing is a non-fasting blood sugar test, which simply means you don't have to stop eating prior to being tested, making it easier than ever.

“Newnan Hospital is committed to serving the community through services such as complimentary health screenings,” concludes Posten. For more information on Newnan Hospital or any of its programs, call 770-254-3455.
