FC&A is working to help the Second Chance Wildlife Center

FC&A, a direct marketing company in Peachtree City, recently chose the Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center in Grantville as their “Make a Difference Day” project.

The center is a haven for injured wild animals to be treated and released back into the wild, as well as a sanctuary for those too injured to return to their natural habitat.

The center is also home to more than 150 animals and more than 200 animals a year are treated for rehabilitation. For more than nine years, the non-profit center has depended on donations and volunteers to keep it running.

The company chose Second Chance because it offered a chance to aid this unusual resource in the community. For many years, owners Charles and Mary Lou Hood have conducted educational tours of the center for school groups.

This year, though, the tours may have to stop. Mary Lou Hood had to get a full-time job in order to have enough money to feed the animals and won't be able to conduct the tours.

One of FC&A's goals is helping the company is to establish assistance to the center on a regular basis and encourage more community participation.

Prior to the company's day at the center, FC&A held a campaign for donations and collected $800 to aid the center.

During the day in Grantville, 18 FC&A volunteers fed and watered the animals and also did such chores as repairing the fence and cutting up trees.

The company plans to hold another day at the center this month.
