It looks like Home Depot is putting all of its Peachtree City eggs in one basket. In the midst of a controversial application for a site on Ga. Highway 54 West, the Atlanta-based retail giant has apparently decided against pursuing its initial proposed location in the city, at Kedron Village. Home Depot's option on a commercial tract next to the Kroger shopping center at Kedron Village has lapsed, according to Jerry Peterson of Pathway Communities, which is marketing the property. Peterson also confirmed Thursday that Pathway is already talking with other parties about the site, although he could not name them at this time. The property is zoned general commercial and will likely be home to a large retail site when construction is completed. A big box retail center has always been the plan for that area, Peterson pointed out, and the city's land-use plan demonstrates this. City planner David Rast said Thursday that he had heard a rumor about Home Depot's change of plans at Kedron, but no official notification had been given the city, and none was necessary. The conceptual site plan for the Kedron site is still in the city's files, Rast said, and it will remain an active project until Home Depot tells the city otherwise. Meanwhile, Home Depot's plan for the Huddleston property at the western end of the city will be discussed again before the Peachtree City Planning Commission at Monday night's regular meeting. The plan has been tabled twice in the past month.
