East Coweta looks for revenge against Houston County

The way the season began for the East Coweta Indians, a trip to the playoffs looked very unlikely.

The team suffered from a string of injuries that prevented key players on both sides of the ball from playing until the third or fourth game. But after dropping the first two games of the season to Parkview and Lovejoy, the Indians won eight games in a row and captured the second seed in 4-AAAA. This Friday night East Coweta will host the Houston County Bears (7-3) in the first round of the state playoffs.

If you're an East Coweta fan, Houston County might sound familiar. They were the team that upset the heavily favored Indians last year in the first round of the playoffs. The Bears have had a decent season this year, losing only to powerful teams like Warner Robins, Peach County, and Northside-Warner Robins, all of which are in the state playoffs as well.

East Coweta's offense has been clicking on all cylinders of late. In the Indians' final game of the season at Stockbridge, quarterback Reamer Argo completed only four passes in the time he played, all four passes went for touchdowns.

The team does not have the major standouts like last year's squad, but by playing as a team the Indians have bounced back in the face of adversity. The game will be played at Garland Shoemake Stadium in Sharpsburg. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
