Two Peachtree City teenagers were seriously injured last week after a late-night one-car accident near Waterwood Bend and Brookwood Path.

According to police reports, officers responding to the scene shortly after midnight on Nov. 5 found a 1992 Acura Legend resting in the front yard of a residence on Waterwood Bend. The car sustained serious damage on the passenger side, with “the entire right side of the vehicle torn away from the main body of the car,” the report stated.

Paramedics said that the passenger in the car, 17-year-old Daniel Coulter, was transported by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center with severe injuries to the entire right side of his body. The driver of the car, Matthew Clements, also 17, was taken by ambulance to Fayette Community Hospital.

An initial investigation at the scene indicated that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to negotiate the curve along Waterwood Bend near Postwood Turn, the police report stated.

As is standard procedure with serious injury accidents, blood and urine samples obtained from the driver were sent to the state crime lab. Charges are pending.
