Chamber is working at helping Shaw's displaced workers

Shaw Industries announced last week that the company would be closing its Newnan facility by the end of the year. The move throws 350 employees out of work, but the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is starting a program to help the displaced workers.

The Chamber, working with the Georgia Department of Labor and the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, met with Shaw Industries officials to plan a course of action to assist the employees at the company.

Job fairs will held for hourly workers on Nov. 16 and 17 from 6-9 p.m. at Smokey Road Middle School. The company will also hold a job fair for salaried workers from 5-6 p.m.on November 16.

If you are participating in the job fair, contact Andy Byrd at Shaw industries at 770-253-5391.
