Congratulations to all winners at Northgate H.S.

I would like to congratulate Northgate High School on its first ever Homecoming.

Congratulations to Candace Manning on being selected as Northgate's first Homecoming Queen and to Student Government Association Vice President Brandon Pointer who had the honor of crowning our first queen.

Congratulations to the football team on their greatest victory ever. Congratulations in particular to a coaching staff who refused to run up the score on a gutsy opponent. That is correct. For those of you who missed this game, the Vikings scored 57 points, but could have easily scored 70 points or more on this night.

Congratulations to the cheerleaders and the band on their usual great performance.

Congratulations to the entire student body for making this such a great week.

Congratulations to the Class of 2000. These kids have done so much to make the Northgate community and the entire county proud and this year they were rewarded by finally getting to know what it is to be the home team.

Finally, I would like to offer a special congratulations to the administration, faculty, staff and parents of Northgate High School who never felt the need to tell the Vikings to select anyone to their homecoming court or to any other position based on race or any other factor other than being the person or persons who best represent their school.

Great job, Vikings.

Peter Skrmetti
Proud Northgate parent
