Veterans Day ceremonies set Nov. 11 in Fayette

Although Veterans Day is officially observed as a federal holiday Monday, Nov. 8, local organizations will have ceremonies to honor veterans on the original Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will place a wreath at the foot of the memorial in front of Peachtree City's City Hall Thursday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at 10:30 a.m.

Taps will be played at 11 a.m. Members of the VFW will be selling their familiar red poppies in front of Kroger stores and K-Mart in the city throughout the day.

Members of American Legion Post 105 plan to visit patients at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Decatur in recognition of Veterans Day.

U.S. Sen. Max Cleland is expected to address a veterans group in Morrow in honor of the occasion at a time and place to be announced.
