With Halloween falling on a Sunday this year, your little ghosts and goblins will have three days to celebrate the holiday. There are dozens of Halloween activities for children of all ages and interests to enjoy this weekend, many of them costing nothing.

First and foremost is trick-or-treating. Unless your neighborhood has decided on a different strategy, trick-or-treating will be done on the official holiday on Sunday. Start expecting trick-or-treaters at dusk, which will come an hour earlier than usual due to the time change.

If you would rather have your child trick-or-treat Saturday and in a mall, Shannon Mall in Union City will offer trick-or-treating for children under 12 beginning at 5 p.m. Children can wear their costumes and go store to store and collect candy.

If you'd rather not celebrate the holiday with trick-or-treating, many local churches will be having fall festivals.

” Flat Creek Baptist will sponsor a safari/jungle-themed festival Saturday. The event will feature games, foods, treats and surprises. Call 770-487-4890.

” Carriage Lane Presbyterian will have a festival Saturday from 3-6 p.m. Children are encouraged to wear positive character costumes. Call 770-631-4618.

” The Word of Life Church will have its festival Saturday from 4-8:30 p.m. There will be a slide, a moon walk, a dunk tank, games, a pie eating contest and a chili cook-off. Everything at the festival will be free. Call 770-716-0034.

” River's Edge Community Church will have its fall festival Sunday from 5-8 p.m. There will be a live band, a chili cook-off, face painting, games and, of course, lots of candy. Call 770-719-0303.

” McDonough Road Baptist will have its fall festival Sunday from 5:30-8 p.m. There will be games, attractions and treats. Call 770-460-5423.

” Fayetteville Christian will sponsor a fall festival/friend day Sunday. There will be more than 20 games and rides at the festival. Tickets for unlimited rides and games are $10. Money collected will be donated to the Hope House. Call 770-461-8763.

” Fayetteville First United Methodist will hve a fall festival Sunday 4-6 p.m. The festival is open to children in preschool through sixth grade. There will be a moon walk, a cake walk, a costume parade, and a trick-or-treat alley. Admission is one canned food item. Call 770-461-4313.

There are many other forms of Halloween entertainment available in the community as well. The Holliday-Dorsey-Fife house will host “Great Georgia Ghosts,” a night of spooky storytelling, Friday and Saturday. Tickets go on sale each evening at 6:30 p.m. and the storytelling tours begin at 7:30 p.m.

The student ministry of Kenwood Christian Church will present “Journey Through Hell” Saturday and Sunday from 7-9 p.m. The interactive drama portrays lost souls in Hell sharing their testimonies of how they ended up in eternal separation from God. The production is for middle and high school students.

Jitterbuggers Teen Club in Peachtree City will present the band Delinquents at 9 p.m. Friday. Saturday, Jitterbuggers will host Halloween House of Terror — spend the night if you dare. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for guests. People are encouraged to wear costumes.

Jitterbuggers will host trick-or-treating Sunday for the younger brothers and sisters of members, 2-6 p.m. The club will be open until 11 p.m. for after trick-or-treating haunts.
