New director named at Chamber

One of Senoia's leading citizens will usher in the millennium as the head of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber Commerce.

Tom Dunlap, CEO of Farmers and Merchants Bank In Senoia, was selected by the chamber's directors to serve as chairman of the board in 2000.

Other officers elected include:

Rod drake, area manager for Georgia Power vice-chairman.

Joe Crain Jr., vice president of Crain Oil, treasurer.

Sam Jones, publisher Newnan Times-Herald, and Melvin Samuels, manager of the Georgia Department of Labor's Newnan office, were elected members at-large on the executive committee.

Don Phillips, senior vice president of commercial banking at First Commercial Bank, will remain on the chamber board for one year after serving as chairman of the board last year.

In addition, the chamber announced the addition of five new directors for the coming year: Walter Arnall of Harwell, Brown and Harwell P.C.; Doug Cantrell of Belk; Harold McCoy, Bank of America, and Jeff Strane of Newnan Utilities.

Continuing their service on the board will be Sam Edwards, Bank of Coweta; Malcom Jackson of Utility Services Company; Allen Queen, Chick-fil-A, and Bill Wetmore, Bonnell.

Directors serving through 2001 are Bud Freeburg, Lindsey's; Otis Jones III, Matrix Insurance; Bill Loftin Bleyle; Lisa McDonald, CLICK, and Coweta County Sheriff Mike Yeager.
