Senoia residents may soon not have to travel so far for their medical needs. Newnan Hospital director Glen Blake and Papp Clinic director Charles Wilson told the Senoia City Council Monday night they were interested in opening a satellite facility in the eastern Coweta town. Wilson said the two health care providers had just received the results from an Atlanta consulting company that showed Senoia as an excellent location for a health care facility. Your community looks very promising, Wilson said. The Papp Clinic director said that he would like to hear input from the community on whether to provide a health care professional in the area. Wilson and Blake said they would like to conduct a survey of the city to see how residents are currently receiving medical care and if a satellite facility would be warmly received. Senoia Mayor Joan Trammell said she would love to see a facility in the city and pledged the city's support in conducting the survey. The two directors explained the city would only have to provide the address labels. Newnan Hospital and Papp Clinic would absorb the rest of the costs, including the mailing of the survey. Senoia officials will provide the addresses of all the residents in the city and Wilson said he would buy mailing lists other residents outside of the city, such as Haralson and Alvaton who might also use the facility. City councilman Kyle Frank agreed with expanding the survey outside the city limits. I think you would draw people from south of here and also eastern Spalding County, he said. The mayor pledged to throw the city's effort behind the proposal and she would send the list of residents to Newnan Hospital and Papp Clinic immediately.
