Second Freedom Fund Banquet set Saturday

More than 200 people are expected to attend the second anual Freedom Fund banquet and dinner Saturday, sponsored by the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP.

Six individuals who have made significant personal contributions to the community will be honored with the NAACP Image Award, according to event organizer Alice Jones.

Honorees include Dr. Howard Creecy Sr., pastor of Olivet Baptist Church in Fayetteville; Robert Jordan of Jordan Salvage in Fayetteville; the late William Leo Spikes, who founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken stores in Peachtree City and Fayetteville; Jimmy Holliday, founder of Holliday Auto Rental. Inc.; and Lee Haney, world champion body builder and founder of Harvest House summer camp.

The sold-out event will be at the Aberdeen Woods Conference Center in Peachtree City. Keynote speaker is U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney.
