Hospital celebrates birthday with a bash

Fayette Community Hospital is celebrating its two-year anniversary this, and officials from the hospital are quite pleased with the response of the community to the facility.

“We've had an amazing two years and we look forward to providing superior healthcare and health-related services to the community for many years to come,” said hospital CEO Darrell Cutts.

When it opened its doors in 1997, it became the first new hospital in the metro area in 14 years. In order to meet the healthcare needs of the community, the hospital continues to expand its services.

This summer, the Diagnostics Department extended its hours to accommodate patients needing to schedule appointments outside normal working hours. The department also added new services including angiograms, arteriograms and diagnostics-directed biopsies.

This fall, he department is adding a bone density scanner and a mobile MRI unit. Other areas of expansion at the hospital include the addition of two new operating rooms to support more than 430 surgeries each month.

Employees celebrated the two-year anniversary with a fun-filled day of food, games and fellowship. I addition to the many activities like face-painting and volleyball, employees also had the opportunity to win door prizes, dance to the sounds of the band Identity Crisis and even attempt to soak the hospital CEO in the dunk tank.

Statistics from last year's fiscal year ending June 30 include:

•Outpatient visits- 26,405

•Radiology diagnostic tests- 37,881

•Lab tests- 32,187

•Employees- 510

•Physicians on staff- 364

•Volunteers- 260
