girls help Eagles soar By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The women's cross country team at Emory University currently is ranked 22nd in the nation in NCAA Division III competition. The program continues to get strong performances from two former McIntosh High School students, Nicola Craver and Rachel Olson. Craver, a freshman, recently came in 28th at the Georgia Collegiate Championships. There were 127 runners in the race and Craver missed beating her personal best by four seconds. Her win-loss record this season is 281-118, giving her a .704 win percentage. She missed earning a spot on the all-state team by a mere five places. Emory finished second in the meet. Olson, a junior, was one place and one second behind Craver at the Georgia Collegiate Championships. She too just missed earning a spot on the all-state team, despite running her best race of the season. Both Craver and Olson have made the top times in the nation list. Craver is ranked 49th and Olson is ranked 54th. There are 121 runners listed. The Eagles are vying to win an NCAA regional title and to earn a berth to the NCAA National Meet for the ninth year in a row. |
