Grantville to be dancing this weekend

By JOHN THOMPSON

Get ready for some old-fashioned fall fun in Grantville this weekend.

Tomorrow, the city will stage its fourth annual Antique Show and Street Dance. The festivities start at 9 a.m. and are highlighted at 11 a.m. with the Ford V-8 Cruise In downtown.

The Cruise In features antique cars from around the country and participants who display their cars are eligible for a $75 cash raffle.

At 7 p.m., the town's streets come alive with an old-fashioned street dance. The entertainment this year features local gospel singer Patrick Cruver, along with the Eagles Nest Homeschool Drill Team and local bands Beyond Recognition and Down to Earth.

In addition to Grantville's celebration, the neighboring communities of Moreland and Hogansville also are having weekend celebrations. Hogansville is celebrating its annual hummingbird festival, while Moreland is staging a historical tour and flea market.

If you want to attend more than one festival, be sure to pick up a “Pathways Passport” at each of the participating towns. Have your passport stamped in at least two towns and you're eligible for $150.

The drawing for the passport winner will be at the Grantville street dance at 8 p.m.

For information on the festivals, call Brigid Galloway at 770-583-2712.
