International
Festival returns for fourth year this Sunday America is the melting pot. Nationalities from all over the world have moved to the United States for opportunities in employment, education and freedom. In the past year, the area has seen the immigration of people from Kosovo, forced to leave their war-torn lands, as well as people from all over the world. This year's fourth annual International Festival in Peachtree City will promote a spirit of goodwill in Georgia toward all people. The festival, sponsored by the International Society, showcases the international nature of the community by presenting international entertainment, food, arts and crafts, company exhibits and more. This year there will be games and sports for children of all ages to participate in, including miniature golf, a beanbag toss, and a basketball free throw contest, among others. The festival has a definite Japanese flavor, evident in some of the cuisine available, as well as at the crafts bazaar. There will be an assortment of chinas, books and works of art at the Bazaar. There will be entertainment from many different international groups, including music, dancing and martial arts exhibits. The festival has grown each year, with more than 1,000 people attending last year's event. The festival provides a forum for study and promotion of the arts, literature, cultural ideas and aspirations of people of all nations. The festival will be this Sunday, Oct. 17 from 12:30 - 4 p.m. at Glenloch Fields in Peachtree City. Admission is free and door prizes will be awarded.
