Hecht named one
of state's top
40 under 40 Georgia
Trend magazine has named state Sen. Greg Hecht
one of its top 40 Georgians under the age of 40.
Hecht's
district includes north Fayette County.
The
magazine notes Hecht's age, 35, which makes him
the youngest state senator, and his long-standing
community service as two of the reasons for which
he was chosen.
Hecht
is president of the Habitat for Humanity
affiliate and a ten-year volunteer for the
organization, has served 11 years on the board of
the Alzheimer's Support Services, seven years as
a Boy Scout Explorers leader and seven years as a
Partner in Education reader to elementary school
children, according to the magazine.
The
article also mentions past membership on his
church's administrative board and previous work
in the state legislature.
In
1999, Hecht received the Council on Aging's
Legislator of the Year award, and in 1998 the
court appointed special advocates named him their
Speak Up for a Child legislative award recipient.
Georgia's
Supreme Court chief justice's professionalism
commission gave Hecht its first Excellence in
Community Service award, and the magazine also
mentions the senator's success in establishing
his business, Fincher and Hecht LLC.
