Fayetteville police make 3 drug arrests

Three men are in custody on drug charges after two separate traffic stops in Fayetteville over the weekend.

According to reports, police stopped a 1985 Mazda 626 near Home Depot Saturday morning. The driver, 41-year-old Donald Max Grimes of Jonesboro, was charged with no insurance, driving on a suspended license and possession of cocaine.

The passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Donald Ameche Harps of Griffin, also was charged with cocaine possession.

In an unrelated incident, James Noah Ridgeway, 17, of Jackson was stopped in a 1987 BMW Sunday night at Ga. Highway 85 and Johnson Avenue because his right tail light was out, reports stated.

The officer reported smelling marijuana while talking to Ridgeway and had K-9 officer “Bo” search the exterior of the car. After being alerted of possible drugs, the human officer found several pieces of suspected marijuana on the floorboard of the car, reports said. Two female passengers were released.

In other incidents over the weekend:

Kimberly Ann Phillips, 33, of Jonesboro was arrested Friday for two counts of first-degree forgery and stealing two wallets containing $106. Both incidents took place at Belk.

An arrest was made Sunday in Houston County on an outstanding warrant for a Fayetteville probation violation.

An arrest was made Friday at Community Corrections on an outstanding warrant for a Fayetteville probation violation.

A report was taken Monday for simple battery at a residence after two people were engaged in a physical altercation.

An arrest was made Sunday in Henry County for two outstanding Fayetteville warrants, both for failure to appear.

About $50 worth of beer was reported stolen Saturday from Cornerstone Chevron.

A report was taken Sunday on a criminal trespass at Swanbrook after someone put soap in the fountain.

A driver was arrested Sunday for driving on a suspended license, headlight requirements and failure to use a signal.
