, Fayette's Republican Party will have its first ever golf tournament Nov. 1 to raise funds for its projects and local political campaigns.

The event begins with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start. The four-man Fort Lauderdale format will be in effect. Cost is $100 per player, including greens fees, cart, lunch, refreshments and door prizes.

Top four teams and winners of specialty contests will receive prizes, and raffle tickets for other prizes will be available.

“We are excited about this tournament,” said party Chairman Eric Dial. “Hopefully this will become an annual tradition in the Fayette community.”

, Fayette County commissioners will combine two meetings into one Monday with a special called meeting at 9 a.m. to set the millage rate for property taxes due next month.

The Board of Commissioners normally has a work session first Wednesdays and a business meeting second Thursdays. Meetings normally conducted Oct. 6 and 14 will be combined into the Oct. 11 session.

In addition to the tax rate, commissioners will discuss the need for new computer software to serve the Sheriff's Department, and a resident's request to change county regulations concerning day care facilities.

Also, among the group's consent agenda items, commissioners will vote on whether to spend $9,985 for awnings to adorn the rear of the County Administrative Complex.
