The 4-AAAA regional softball tournament was held last week, with only a few delays due to inclement weather. The McIntosh Lady Chiefs entered the tournament knowing that one of their toughest games would be in their inevitable meeting with the Fayette County Lady Tigers. The two teams had split during the season.

McIntosh's first opponent was LaGrange, a team they disposed of early by a score of 11-0. Their next game went the distance, all seven innings. McIntosh had led the game until the seventh when Stockbridge overtook the Lady Chiefs and won, 5-4.

East Coweta put up some resistance to McIntosh in their third game, as the game remained scoreless until the sixth inning. Abby King and Megan Mulcahy were able to generate some offense in the sixth and drive home both Ashley Darrow and Britt Hardy. McIntosh won by a score of 2-0.

The next opponent for the Lady Chiefs was their biggest rival aside from Fayette County: Lovejoy. Brooke King took the mound for the Chiefs and actually drove in the first run for the team. Candace Moore hit a triple that drove in two RBIs, followed by an RBI single by Hardy. McIntosh scored another run in the sixth on a passed ball and won the game 5-3.

McIntosh then got a rematch with Stockbridge, and they would not take the game lightly. The Lady Chiefs got some offensive production from sophomores Mulcahy and third baseman Kim Jenkins, each with three RBIs. Freshman Renae Clark also drove in three runs, as McIntosh rolled 10-0. The win put them in the championship game where they would face the Fayette County Lady Tigers. The two teams played very well, but McIntosh's bats were quieted and they lost 2-0.
