Fire station sets open house

The Peachtree City Fire Department is having an open house this Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Neely fire station at 105 N. Peachtree Parkway noon to 5 p.m. in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week.

This year's theme is “The Great Escape.” The focus will be on home fire drills and firefighters will be on hand to assist residents in planning safe escape routes out of their homes in the event of a fire.

Fire apparatus, Dive Team, Hazardous Material Team, and emergency medical equipment also will be on display. Clown and fire safety puppet shows will be scheduled for the children.

A limited number of bicycle helmets and smoke detectors will be given away, and refreshments will be served.

The fire department also will kick off its annual pumpkin sale Saturday at the Neely fire station as well as the Weber station at 400 S. Peachtree Parkway. Money received will go to the volunteer firefighters association to purchase equipment and to provide additional training.
