What? Well, you have probably seen the bracelets that say W.W.J.D. That stands for the question What Would Jesus Do? These bracelets came out a couple years ago when a youth group in Michigan studied the book In His Steps, which was written a hundred years ago (literally!). The idea is still as good as it was long ago: to live life every day, making every decision with the question in mind, What Would Jesus Do? This is wonderful, of course! Even the least-churched person has a sense that Jesus was good and that doing what He did could be an excellent way of living. But a problem exists with
the whole premise. The problem is this: HCYDWJW That is a problem. It's a problem because too many of us know too little about Jesus and his earthly life. Without a knowledge of the truth and reality of Jesus' life and actions, we would simply fumble around making the same old human decisions AND MISTAKES as we would have anyway. That is why the Bible is so important. So that we might read and study and find out all about this Jesus that so many of us would like to be like for our good and the good of others. If you haven't done it yet, spend a little time with Jesus in the Bible books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. You'll be intrigued by what He did! I guarantee it! And you'll be much better at doing what He did when you know what He did! It just makes sense, doesn't it? BUT MORE HELP IS ALSO ON THE WAY! Yes, now you can not only read the Book, you can SEE THE MOVIE! Its called The JESUS Movie. AND its out on video! Critics are calling the The JESUS Movie/Video the most authentic dramatization of the life of Jesus ever produced. Based on the gospel account of Luke, TIME magazine credits the filmmakers with meticulous attention to authenticity. AND its coming not to a theater or movie rental store near you BUT TO YOUR HOUSE! Delivered free of charge. No strings attached. Seriously! During October 4 - 11, the church of Fayette County, approximately 70 local churches, will be mailing over 40,000 videos, one for each home in the county. Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran and many other denominational and nondenominational congregations are uniting for this community effort. We are grateful for the service of the local Atlanta-area churches uniting many denominations, says Bill Moffatt, director of the JESUS Video Project, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. They are serving together in this innovative outreach to renew our neighborhoods, which has become all the more necessary in light of the Columbine, Atlanta and Yosemite tragedies. So, HCYDWJWDIYDKWJD? You can't. But now there's more help than ever so that we'll all know just exactly what Jesus did and what we then would do. And one of the best new helps, in my opinion, is The JESUS Video! Of course, you know, as I know, that this wonderful video and its great story won't do any of us any good if it stays wrapped in cellophane outside our VCR. Do yourself a favor. Give yourself a gift. Watch it when it comes. Watch it with your family. Talk about it. Digest it. Ask God to help you understand it. Then you'll be much better at living your life in the blessings of doing everything by the question W.W.J.D....because Y.K.W.J.D.!
