Courthouse clock getting a new face

You may have noticed that the north face of the clock in Fayette's old courthouse is missing.

Don't worry, it will be back.

The clock face was cracked during a severe storm that blew through Fayette June 30, the same one that removed the roof from a Fayetteville pharmacy.

County Public Works Department workers removed the face last week and replaced it with plywood temporarily.

Clockworks, a company that specializes in such work, will build a new face for the clock and county workers will have the historic landmark in working order within about four to six weeks, said Fred Heath of the Public Works Department.

County commissioners recently approved spending $5,700, $4,700 of it from insurance, to effect the repairs.
