Lazers win third straight Atlant Cup Atlanta Cup sponsors retired the traveling U-13 trophy to the `87 Lazers team upon winning their third Athena A Division Atlanta Cup title over Labor Day weekend. The `87 Lazers won the tournament in 1996, 1997 and 1999. In 1998, the girls played in an older age division. In the Atlanta Cup finals, the Lazers defeated a tough Florida Kumba team 3-2 on penalty kicks to win the highly coveted title. Next month, the Lazers will trael to Washington, D.C. to play in the prestigous WAGS tournament. They are the only U-13 girls' team to be invited to play in the Cup Division from the Southeast region of the United States. The WAGS tournament is broken down into three divisions with the Cup being the most difficult, followed by the A and B divisions. |
