Bigger, Better, and Close!
Changes coming to Southlake Mall

When you visit Southlake Mall, you will notice both construction and redevelopment ongoing at the huge Morrow facility. This award-winning facility is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation, and will be a great treat to both shop and visit.

Janet Paulsen, Southlake Mall's marketing director, indicates that the ongoing renovation includes the complete transformation of the mall's existing north main entrance into a spacious glass atrium which will house a new 740-seat "family friendly" food court.

Also included will be a carousel, additional rest rooms, including family rest rooms with baby changing areas. New escalators are being installed, resulting in the adding of additional footage to the 1.25 million-sq. ft. structure, and providing increased convenience for shoppers.

"Our goal is to give our shoppers the amenities and retailers they have asked for,"said general manager Mallard Benton.

Construction of the food court and other amenities are scheduled to be completed by November 1999 — just in time for Christmas shopping. Plans also are underway to build a special children's area in the JC Penney Courtyard, according to Ms. Paulsen. "We're looking forward to building the first mall-based children's soft-play area in Atlanta," she said.

The soft-play areas are the newest concept in shopping malls, and are brightly colored, soft-coated foam surfaces in various shapes. Kids love them!

Something else kid will love is the newly recruited The Disney Store. In just the past year, Southlake Mall has added Gymboree, Gap Kids, The Icing and Paul Harris.

Plan a trip to Southlake Mall. You will find it bigger, better, and it is close to Fayette and Coweta counties!
