Medical Weight Management in Fayetteville offers more than just weight loss

Medical Weight Management was established in Columbus, Georgia in 1993 by Dr. William Cross Dudney III, who remains the medical director. Dr. Dudney is currently the president of the Florida Bariatrics Association.

Dr. Virginia Martinez began seeing patients in November 1995. She is a member of the American Board of Bariatric (weight loss) Physicians.

The company's first Fayetteville office was opened in January 1996, and then relocated in February 1998 to 106 Governor's Square Parkway, on Ga. Highway 54 between Peachtree City and Fayetteville.

What makes Medical Weight Management's weight loss center so comfortable for people is that all of the staff have been on the program and have lost and have kept off at least 40 pounds. They know first hand what it is like to be overweight and can easily explain all the ins and outs of the program. They don't use the word “thin.” They are looking to make people look and feel healthy.

This is all accomplished with the professional supervision of medications by an experienced board-certified physician, combined with a healthy meal plan and a sensible exercise program. All of this is extremely helpful in lifting mood, easing the compulsion to overeat and resulting in weight loss.

Patients receive a complete panel of blood and thyroid tests as well as EKG (if needed) prior to starting medication. If prescription medications are not for you, there are also natural and herbal medications available that will help suppress the appetite and burn fat. Patients also are provided written material on nutrition, recipes and exercise.

New to the Peachtree City location is a cosmetic center that includes laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. LightSheer Diode Laser Hair Removal is a state-of-the-art system specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, less painfully and more reliably than electrolysis. In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing or chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy, and all are only temporary. The LighSheer Diode Laser is the world's most advanced treatment for effective removal of unwanted hair.

The process is very fast and can be used on any skin type from very fair to very dark pigmentation. A whole face can be done in as little as 15 minutes.

“A topical anesthetic is available, but I have never had to offer it,” says Kelly Whitlock, nurse manager. “The treatment is relatively pain-free.”

A new advanced skin care system is now available at Medical Weight Management and Cosmetic Center. M. D. Forte is a new system of skin care products that minimize the appearance of skin imperfections because of acne, sun damage or aging. Chemical peels and hydrating masks are also available. These products are available only through a physican's office and require professional supervision, yet they are comparable in price to other well-known skin care products sold in popular department stores and day spas.

Free personalized consultations are available for all services at Medical Weight Management and Cosmetic Center and there are no contracts to sign. To schedule an appointment, call Pam Moore, office manager, at 770-487-8771.
