youth punt, pass, kick their way to NFL By MICHAEL

More than 30 participants between the 8 and 15 took part in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition at McCurry Park in Fayetteville. The competition allows youngsters to showcase their talent in punting, passing and placekicking, with the focus on distance and accuracy. There was only one winner in the girls' division; Kelly Jackson of Peachtree City took first place in the age 10-11 group with a score of 42. The first place winners in the boys' age groups were all from Fayetteville. They were: William Stradford III in the age 8-9 group with a score of 173. Ryan Wiiliams in the age 10-11 group with a score of 205. Jason Byrd in the age 12-13 group with a score of 226. Kyle Grey in the age 14-15 group with a score of 282. The first place winners will compete in the sectional competition Saturday, Oct. 17 in Carrollton. A win at the sectionals could qualify them for the Team Championship competition in conjunction with an Atlanta Falcons home game. Other participants who placed in the competition were Collin Wooddy, age 8-9, second place with 160 points, and J.C. Jennings, age 8-9, third place with 154 points. In the age 10-11 group, Jonathon Jaurigue placed second with 203 points and Ryan Johnson placed third with 191 points. All four of those athletes are from Fayetteville. Matthew Perkins of Sharpsburg placed second with 166 points in the age 12-13 group while Steven Canning of Fayetteville placed third with 159 points. Alex Myers took second place in the age 14-15 group with 199 points. |
