Republican Women to hear domestic violence program

County Commissioner and advocate for abused women Linda Wells will present a program on domestic violence during the Greater Fayette Republican Women's meeting Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Baci Italian restaurant on Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville.

Wells will outline the mission of the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence, a network of local residents and agencies that work together to alleviate the problem.

The council offers a 24-hour crisis line, legal advocacy, free weekly support group wit free child care, a food closet, transitional housing, teen dating/violence programs, referral and crisis counseling.

Candidates for local municipal races also will be featured at the meeting. Residents are invited to attend and meet the candidates.

Social time and dinner begin at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:30. Reservations are not necessary.
