Murder indictments set for three in SUV killing

By MONROE ROARK

A Fayette County grand jury last week handed down murder indictments of three men in connection with a drug-related killing last spring.

According to court records, Paul Hylton, Karl Bryan Hodge and Glen Simon Hamilton each face two counts of felony murder plus a third murder count, as well as two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of arson and concealing the death of another.

Hylton also is charged with three counts of firearm possession by a convicted felon, while Hodge and Hamilton each face three charges of firearm possession during the commission of a crime.

All of these charges stem from an April 1 incident in which the body of a man was found in north Fayette County inside a burning sport utility vehicle. The victim, believed to be Adolf Stubbs of Brooklyn, N.Y., had a bullet wound in his head.

Law enforcement officials believe that the murder was the result of an argument between associates over proceeds from a drug deal. It is likely that the only Fayette County connection to the case is the fact that the body was dumped here, investigators said in May after the suspects were arrested.

Hamilton, also known as Paul Anderson, was arrested outside the Fayetteville Police Department after a group of seven people came from New York in a minivan in an attempt to secure the release of another person already in the Fayette County Jail in connection with this case.

At the time of that arrest, authorities said that Hamilton was believed to be the mastermind behind the entire conspiracy, and was likely at the scene or even inside the vehicle when Stubbs was killed.

After spending a weekend at Hartsfield International Airport looking for suspects, investigators were tipped off that the van was in town and initiated a manhunt that resulted in Hamilton's arrest.

The investigation took local law enforcement officials from New York to Orlando in their search for clues. Another suspect is believed to have fled to Jamaica.
