New McDonald's set to open for business in Peachtree City

The newest McDonald's of Peachtree City opens for business tomorrow at the corner of Ga. Highway 74 and Crosstown Drive with over 5,000 sq.ft. and the city's first Indoor PlayPlace.

The restaurant replaces the smaller Crosstown Court store, which opened in 1993, but outgrew itself within the last couple of years as a result of the significant growth within the Peachtree City area.

The new store seats 80 people and includes the company's new “Made for You” food preparation system.

McDonald's opened its first Peachtree City store in 1987 and built the Crosstown Court store in 1993.

“It's not often that McDonald's rebuilds after just six years, but we simply outgrew the Crosstown Court store, and, of course, this is indicative of Peachtree City's rapid growth,” said owner Ben Alston.

Alston is planning three weeks of special activities and promotions at the new store and his store on hwy. 54. Some of the promotions are fundraisers to benefit elementary and high schools in Peachtree City and Tyrone.

If these go well, Alston may continue the fundraising efforts on an ongoing basis. The grand opening celebration culminates Oct.9 with the official ribbon-cutting and flag-raising ceremonies.

The new store includes McDonald's innovative “Made for You” food preparation system, which promises faster, hotter, fresher product and allows for customized orders without impeding service time.

It also creates a better working environment for the crew and supports future growth through product development since the system can more easily accommodate an extensive menu. Plans are to have the system installed in all 13,000 U.S. outlets by the end of 1999.
