allowed misuse of buses The question of the week is who in the Fayette County school system allowed the misuse of school property to support a private organization with school/taxpayer property? Fayette schoolbuses were used to ferry people from the Starr's Mill [school] parking area to and from the Peachtree City airport over a two-day period [during the Wings Over Dixie Airshow Saturday and Sunday]. One can only imagine the expense of the drivers, fuel, and wear and tear on this very expensive equipment and if the school system is being reimbursed for the true value of this equipment. Even full reimbursement does not excuse this misuse. Seems to me the party or parties responsible for allowing this equipment to be misused should be immediately terminated. This equipment is actually taxpayers' property and is not supposed to be used for the support of any private organization. Finally, please don't forget that the school board bears the final responsibility to insure the proper use of school equipment. These are the same individuals that want you to approve a $90 million SPLOST that they are bound to waste on other unneeded projects. Efforts are being made to slow the growth in this area and the school board is working to pollute the air even more and increase the traffic on the already overcrowded streets and highways. This is yet another reason to vote no to SPLOST on Sept. 21. John
