Grand Jury has busy week

Business is picking up at Fayette Superior Court as the next trial session looms just around the corner.

The calendar was trimmed a great deal late last week, with some 50 pleas being entered just Thursday, according to the District Attorney's office. More hearings on pleas and motions were conducted Friday.

The grand jury convened Monday and Tuesday of this week, with its work possibly spilling over into today if the lengthy case log merits the extra time.

Criminal trials are set to begin here Monday, Sept. 27.

The following indictments were handed down by the grand jury Monday:

George Clinton Britt — obstruction of an officer.

Derrick Brown — obstruction of an officer, and aggravated assault.

Miiya Queyana Brown — VGCSA (possession of methylenedioxymethamphetamine), theft by receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, driving under the influence of drugs, VGCSA (possession of marijuana), failure to secure a minor child, endangering a child while driving under the influence (two counts), and driving with an expired tag.

Rico Denard Collins — armed robbery of a person over 65.

Bradley Scott Crawford — robbery.

Jonathan Flynt Forrester – robbery.

Stephen Duane Hart — possession of tools for commission of a crime, and loitering and prowling.

Kathryn E. Holme — burglary, and contributing to the deliquency of a minor (three counts).

John Howard Landrum — possession of a vehicle with no vehicle identification number plate, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, and unlawful use of a license plate.

Jimmy McAfee — terroristic threats and acts.

Ryan Brock Prebor — burglary (two counts), and obstruction of an officer.

Jason Wardlow Stewart — VGCSA (possession of methylenedioxymethamphetamine), DUI, DUI by a person under 21, VGCSA (possession of marijuana), and having an open container.

Joseph Henry Wells — impersonating an officer.

Peter Mark Williams — interference with government property.
