Tyrone roads to be closed for Founders Day

One of the biggest weeks of the year is unfolding in Tyrone this week, and residents and visitors will have to deal with road closings to make sure everyone has a safe time.

Tyrone's annual Founders Day celebration this weekend promises to be bigger and better than ever. In order to make sure everything goes smoothly, Castlewood Road and Palmetto Road will be closed during the Founders Day road race Saturday, 7:45 - 8:45 a.m.

Additionally, Senoia Road and Palmetto Road will be closed from approximately 1:45 - 2:45 p.m. for the Founders Day parade.

Another activity set for the town this week is the town council meeting Thursday. Everybody must be in the Founders Day spirit, because there are only three items on the agenda.

The council is set to conduct a public hearing to change street names in the Swanson Valley subdivision and will also listen to an appeal of a business license denial for Jones Food. The final item is a discussion of Swanson Road. The council meets at 7:30 p.m. at Tyrone Town Hall
