EMC helping send kids to Disney

Making wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses is just everyday business for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Atlanta and North Georgia.

The same type of philosophy is behind Operation RoundUp, a Coweta-Fayette EMC program that helped send two local children to Disney World this summer.

“Our member/owners deserve the credit for all of the assistance that Operation RoundUp has provided to people and organizations in need,” said Michael Whiteside, EMC's president and CEO.

The program invites members to round up their bill each month to the next highest dollar. Since its inception in 1993, over $900,000 has been contributed, and hundreds of individuals and organizations have received help.

“Any child would be excited to meet Mickey and take part in the activities offered by the Magic Kingdom,” said Helen Shepard, director of program services for Make-A-Wish.

EMC sent Charles from Grantville, who suffers from leukemia, and other lucky child to visit Mickey and all his friends this summer.
