Rec
League softball starts up By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Though the temperature has hardly gone below 100 degrees lately, the Fall Open Co-Rec Softball League began last week with four divisions: an open division, a church division, a D division, and a DD division. The teams will play a shorter schedule against smaller teams. In the open division, Chaos defeated Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic 18-12, while Fuddruckers beat Bandits 7-0. Bandits will face the Fuddruckers team this week, while Chaos battles Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic. In the church division, Covenant Presbyterian won over Lisbon Baptist 16-6 and Heritage Christian beat Corinth Baptist 19-6. Heritage Christian will square off against Covenant Presbyterian early this week when Lisbon Baptist meets Corinth Baptist. The Sluggers, Southern Auto Salvage and The Hammers were all winners in the D division last week. The Sluggers defeated the Smokies 15-10, Southern Auto Salvage won over Brock Siding 12-10 and the Hammers beat ISE 10-6. The D division will not play again until Wednesday, Sept. 8. In the DD division, M and S Auto crushed the Mayfield Route Warriors 22-7. The Misfits also got an offensive groove on as they shut down Johnny's Special 19-2. The Hamil Corporation had a battle with Wright's Hydro Seeding, eventually winning 15-10. The DD division will also be off until Wednesday, Sept. |
