A
minor accident involving a Fayette County school
bus and car occurred Monday afternoon in
Peachtree City at the intersection of Ga. Highway
54 and Peachtree Parkway.
According
to Peachtree City Police Chief Jim Murray, the
school bus (number 188), driven by Glennis Eugene
Jones, 62, was in the left lane of Hwy. 54 behind
a 1997 Camaro driven by Donald Harmon, 34, of
LaGrange, stopped at the traffic light.
As
the bus moved forward through the intersection,
it struck the rear of the Camaro, Murray said.
The bus driver was ticketed for following too
close, and the driver of the other vehicle was
arrested and charged with driving with a
suspended license and no insurance, police said.
Peachtree
City Police Officer J. Hughes reported that two
students aboard the bus complained of injuries. A
third person, Rebekah Abbot, 23, a passenger in
Harmon's vehicle, was transferred to the hospital
from the Police Department around 5:30 p.m.
stating she felt dizzy and sick.
According
to Pam Holt, school bus routing supervisor, bus
188 had picked up students at Booth Middle School
and McIntosh High School and was headed toward
drop-off points along Hip Pocket Road when the
accident occurred.
