Fayetteville ready
for Y2K, says finance official By

Fayetteville
government agencies are all ready and
set to have computers up and running Jan.
1, 2000, said city finance director Lynn Raven.
But
if the computers don't work, a contingency plan
is in place to conduct city operations manually,
Raven told the City Council last week.
Personal
computers in City Hall and in the water and
police departments have been tested and are Y2K
compliant, said Raven, except for two.
Replacement of the noncompliant computers is
budgeted for and will be accomplished soon, she
said.
Also,
the Fire Department's incident reporting software
is out of date, she said, and the company that
provides it is not offering an upgrade.
We're looking for a vendor to replace
that, she said.
Letters
have been sent to utilities and other vendors
that affect city operations, and 70 percent have
replied that they are Y2K ready, Raven said. A
second wave of letters is on its way to the
remaining 30 percent.
We're
all ready and set, she said.
