Student reports theft in class

By MONROE ROARK

Apparently some local high school student is pretty serious about raising that math grade.

A Fayette County High School student reported Friday that his calculator was stolen while he was absent from class, according to police reports.

The plaintiff said he was called to the school office during his seventh period class and returned shortly after 3 p.m. to find his calculator missing.

The teacher instructed everyone in the class to display their calculators, but none of them matched the missing one, the report stated.

The Texas Instruments device was valued at $83.

Also in Fayetteville Friday morning, Michael Reid of Senoia was pulled over on Ga. Highway 85 for a traffic violation and found himself under arrest on a drug charge.

Reid was found to be driving on a suspended license, and he was in possession of cocaine as well as a small amount of marijuana, according to police reports.

In an unrelated incident, Lance Adrian Johnson of Fairburn was arrested Monday evening at Tanner's, where he works, on an outstanding warrant out of Douglas County.

Johnson had applied for an alcohol license, and the resulting background check revealed the warrant, which was then confirmed, police said.
