Deadline draws near for Spirit of Industry entries

Applicants have just one week left to supply entries in this year's “Spirit of Industry” award.

The award is sponsored by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Existing Industry Committee and interested parties should bring completed applications to the Chamber office in the old Fayette County Courthouse by Sept. 1.

Awards will be given in two categories: companies with fewer than 50 employees and companies with more than 50 employees. Winners will be announced at an award luncheon Oct. 26 at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center.

Eligible applicants should be companies with a headquarters, manufacturing plant or distribution center in Fayette County and should also be members of the chamber.

The chamber will submit local winners to the statewide competition sponsored by the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

“Last year was the inaugural year for this program, and we were delighted with the response we received,” said Spirit of Industry program chairman Nancy Price.

“We were absolutely thrilled to have our local winner, Panasonic, not only compete at the statewide level, but walk away with the award.”

According to Price, the Spirit of Industry Award was created to emphasize the commitment and the contributions that local industries have made within our communities. Through the application process, each company will be measured on the strength of that commitment.
