Soccer galore at Spirit Day 99

Soccer fans, and there are plenty of them in this county, are in for a special treat this weekend.

The Peachtree City Youth Soccer Association and Soccerfest `99 are sponsoring an incredible day of soccer in Peachtree City. The day, which will culminate in a top collegiate match, is intended to honor the individuals who have contributed to the success of the program.

At 1 p.m., there will be a “future stars” game. The game will feature the current stars of the PTCYSA program. That game will be followed by the “current stars” game at 2:30 p.m. The game will feature some local high school talent that has developed within the association program.

At 3:35 p.m., come watch the coaches play in the “past their prime” game. Players will finally get a chance to see the skills of their coaches, pointing out their mistakes on the field.

At 5 p.m, Fields five and six will be dedicated to Amy McFarland and Tami Pirani. Both women dedicated many hours to the soccer association and have unfortunately passed on during the past year.

There also will be an ongoing three on three tournament during the day. People are invited to put a three-man team together and challenge other teams within their age groups.

The day culminates in a top collegiate match when the 12th ranked Clemson Lady Tigers and the 15th ranked Michigan Lady Wolverines at 8 p.m.

The event will take place at the Baseball Soccer Complex on Ga. Highway 74 in Peachtree City. The concession stand will be open all day.

The Lady Tigers get a touch of home field advantage as two of their players, Nancy and Julie Augustyniak, are from Peachtree City.

Admission is $4 for adults and free for children. There will be an autograph session after the game. Dry.
