Starr's Mill gets a field of its own

Starr's Mill High School will kick off its softball season with quite a show.

School officials will be cutting the ribbon on a new playing field at the South Complex before playing Woodward Academy.

This is a big year for Starr's Mill as this is the school's first season with a senior class. To mark the occasion, four crepe myrtle trees, all of different colors, were planted on the field to represent all four classes.

The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18. Both the varsity and junior varsity softball teams will be on hand.

The varsity will then take on the Lady War Eagles in a hotly contested AAA rivalry.
