MediaOne – We've heard this same old song before

Your recent article entitled, “City officials take MediaOne to wood shed,” reminds me of that old saying, deja-vu all over again!

I just waited over 40 minutes to report problems with reception on 17 channels. This is my fifth problem with reception over the past 12 months. It typically takes four to five days to get a technician to visit, and then several weeks and visits by incapable technicians before the problems are repaired.

When are all Fayette County officials going to realize that the same problems with MediaOne never go away?

MediaOne makes the same promises each time they are brought to task. Comments such as “Customer service is MediaOne's main concern right now” and all the other statements made by MediaOne in your recent article are the same as they have always been, unfounded promises and idle words.

Their predecessor Wometco made the same promises, and here we are at the same place with the same poor service and quality many years later.

It's time for a change.

The only thing MediaOne has proven by their actions over many years is that they cannot live up to their words and their agreements.

Therefore, Fayette County officials in Peachtree City and Fayetteville, get MediaOne's attention, and AT&T's before the transfer to them.

Rescind MediaOne's franchise agreements.

They have never performed up to them so they are not entitled to them. Plain and simple.

Make the franchise available for competition by others, and pull MediaOne (and AT&T's) agreements totally. Then maybe we will get what we pay for — excellent service, better quality and lower rates.

MediaOne is not deserving of the franchise, so Peachtree City and Fayetteville, take it away.
