Tucked away in the Banks Station Shopping Center is Fayetteville's newest Mexican restaurant, La Fiesta. Evidently, the residents of the city are enraptured by Mexican cuisine because La Fiesta is now the fifth Mexican eatery to call Fayetteville home. The restaurant is a chain and has eight other links scattered throughout the metro area. You don't expand rapidly without doing something well, and the food at La Fiesta is worthy of a trip. At lunch, the restaurant features a buffet with traditional Mexican dishes such as tacos, mixed in with old friends like barbecued chicken. The restaurant also features a Gringo burger for folks who are not inclined to take a trip south of the border. Other items on the menu include a round-up of the usual suspects such as burritos, chimichangas and quesadillas. The interior of the restaurant is festooned with Mexican adornments and the staff is friendly and helpful. La Fiesta's food is good, but I think we have now reached our quota of Mexican restaurants in the county. With more than 90,000 folks now calling Fayette home, I think it's time for an adventurous restaurateur to bring a new type of restaurant to town. I constantly hear people clamoring for different food, and I think the population could support a good Thai or Vietnamese restaurant. Several restaurants are under construction, including Applebee's and Malone's, but I believe we're ready for something more. What type of restaurant would you like to see come to town? Drop an e-mail or suggestion to the paper and we'll publish the results in the next edition of the Dining Guide. It's time for the residents to vent on the food choices in town and I'm sure entrepreneurs would be interested to see the results.
